The math
How the calculation works
kWh per day = (watts ÷ 1000) × (minutes ÷ 60). Estimated cost = kWh × your rate per kWh. The yearly figure multiplies the daily estimate by 365.25 days.
Limits
What this estimate does not include
- Standby draw while the machine idles between drinks.
- The higher draw of the first heat-up from cold.
- Water heating and pump cycles beyond your entered use time.
- The cost of beans, milk, filters, descaler, or water treatment.
- Differences between your tariff, your plan, and the seasons.
Treat the result as a planning figure, not a meter reading. If you want the ground truth, a plug-in energy monitor on the machine's socket settles it in a week.

Why is the label wattage higher than my bill suggests?
The label usually states the maximum draw, and a machine only draws that while actively heating. Average use is lower, which makes this calculator a reasonable upper-bound estimate rather than a precise figure.
Should I include standby power?
This calculator does not. If your machine idles all day, the standby draw is usually small but real; the manual or a plug-in meter tells you the actual number.
Does this include the cost of beans and water?
No. This is electricity only. Beans, milk, filters, descaler, and water treatment are separate line items in your own budget.
Is the yearly figure reliable enough to budget with?
It is a planning estimate built from your inputs and a simple formula. Your actual tariff and meter readings will differ; treat it as a starting point, not a promise.
